Caregiving goes beyond children and the elderly to include pets, Persons with Disabilities, siblings and partners. Given that 1 in 5 adults in India are caregivers, providing them with the right support and accommodations at the workplace is imperative.

In this public workshop, we will discuss how culture and intersectionality impact caregivers and do an in-depth exploration of caregiving challenges. The expert panel will explore the best practices from their organisations while giving an insight into policies and interventions.

Bhavana Issar

Founder & CEO, Caregiver Saathi

Bhavana, is the Founder & CEO of a social venture Caregiver Saathi, which is a hi-tech and hi-touch platform that supports family caregivers through a care navigation system that aims to ease access to resources like advice, information, community, professional services and learning tools. She consults with organisations in building Caregiver-friendly and Compassionate Workplaces that are resilient and innovative.

After her corporate stint as an HR leader in large companies, she is an Organisation consultant in the area of Change, Leadership Development and Organisation Building. She is a Fellow and facilitator in Process Work with Sumedhas Academy for Human Context, Gestalt OD Practitioner. She's been faculty at institutions like IIM Ahmedabad, Udaipur, XLRI, SP Jain institute of management, NMIMS etc. She is a passionate person with diverse interests like poetry, crocheting and hi-tech gadgets. As a multi-potential-ate she most identifies as a feminist, a storyteller and an activist who believes in the possibilities of human potential.

Her story was included in the book by bestselling author Rashmi Bansal - Touch the Sky: Stories of women across India who are changing their destiny.

She is a motorcyclist and believes motorcycling has helped her push the boundaries of the body and mind. She supports women motorcyclists to realize their dreams. She expresses through poetry and believes humour powers resilience. She's a bewildered parent to a strong-willed teenager and a moody pet, currently residing in Mumbai with her spouse who often complains that she's a bully.

Christine Bastian

Vice President, UKTA CASS Oversight, Northern Trust

Christine Bastian, Vice President - UK Transfer Agency Client Assets Sourcebook (CASS) Regulatory Office Lead at Northern Trust.

Christine has 14+ years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to her Regulatory role Christine worked at the Northern Trust UK Office in Transfer Agency Operations and was heavily involved with onboarding multiple new clients.

She is the chair of the of the Circle of Caregivers resource council at Northern Trust.

Christine joined Northern in 2009 post completion of her Post Graduation. She holds the Investment Operations Certificate from Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments, UK.

Gurpreet Sandhu

VP & GM, Platform & Systems Engineering (PSE), CCG, Intel

Gurpreet Sandhu, Vice President, CCG and General Manager, Platform and Systems Engineering (PSE) is responsible for delivering validation hardware for the CCG roadmap, and reference system designs and system technologies that enable leadership products for the Mobile Client roadmap. He also leads the Platforms and Systems Center of Excellence (CoE) that collaboratively develops platform hardware, reference systems and product designs for various business groups.

Prior to this role, Gurpreet established and led platform hardware, system reference and product design teams for Mobile Computing Group. After joining CCG, Gurpreet has built a strong reference design strategy, and established a roadmap of HVM ready, scalable, system technologies in key domains helping us scale Evo designs in market. His team has received four Intel Achievement Awards. Gurpreet is passionate about D&I and is the sponsor for the Intel Disability & Accessibility Network (IDAN) India chapter.
